Trigeminal Neuralgia

In 2010, Aneeta experienced her first episode of Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN). TN is a crippling facial pain caused by compression of the trigeminal nerve which serves to feed pain stimuli from the face. It left Aneeta in severe pain and associated sleep deprivation. Seven years later she eventually received a diagnosis and MVD surgery was performed two years later at University College Hospital London in an attempt to alleviate the pain.

In 2020 Aneeta accepted the role of CEO of Trigeminal Neuralgia Association UK (TNA UK) following her role as their patron. She has almost tripled the membership in the last two and a half years. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Aneeta launched online webinars that brought world experts directly into members’ homes. Many TN sufferers described these as a lifeline and brought a greater understanding of the condition to members and their families. Recognising the impact that such a disabling hidden condition has on sufferers’ ability to attend meetings in person, these have continued and now run alongside Regional Support Groups.

Under Aneeta’s leadership, TNA has launched a freephone and email helpline to give easy access to people seeking information or support around Trigeminal Neuralgia.

Aneeta is committed to working with leading experts globally to discover the best ways to bring relief to fellow suffers.Aneeta has introduced a number of fund-raising incentives including Tea for TNA, #faceofTN, #ShowTN3Fingers and #TalkShareMakeOthersAware. She continues to look to increase funding streams for Regional Support Groups, the Telephone Helpline, and much-needed research into TN, its causes, and possible alleviation.tilation.
